Since March, there have been break-ins on Bedford, Edgeware, Braeburn, Hilldale and Middlesex. Cars, homes, and in one case the same house twice. This page is to share what we know with the neighborhood.
A note on the numbers: police told reporters on 24 July that two burglaries in the area may be related. This list is longer because neighbors have been sharing things directly with each other. If something happened to you and it is not here, or was never reported to police, please add it. The fuller the picture, the more there is for them to work with.
What we still do not know: whether the Aug 5 Middlesex burglary is connected to the rest, and whether anyone has images of the people involved. If you know more, please share it.
The official count is low because incidents are not being reported, and reports are how patrols get assigned and how cases get connected. A break-in that was never reported does not exist to the department. It is not too late to file one.
Report break-ins and attempted entries, even if they seemed minor or happened weeks ago. Each report helps create a clearer record of what is happening across the neighborhood.

Make sure home cameras are working and positioned to capture the street and key entry points. If you have footage from the incident dates, save a copy before your system overwrites it.
Lock doors, windows and cars, close the garage, bring the garage remote inside, collect packages and mail, and keep bags or valuables out of view from the street.
Check on neighbors who live alone, especially older residents who may not hear about incidents online. A quick call, text or knock on the door can make sure no one is left out of the loop.
